Good news and bad news

Bad news is, When I bolted my bellhousing to the block, the converter wasn't set all the way in and I damaged the tranny pump. The converter must have slipped out a bit somehow.

The good news is that I was going to either rebuild my tranny or get a new one to handle the power anyway.

So the question is....what to do......

1) Get the 700r4 I have now rebuilt to handle the power.

2) Buy a new 700r4 that will handle the power.

3) Convert it to a manual.

4) Do some other combination.

I dont have a billion dollars to spend on this so think of that also.

Re: Good news and bad news

Manual is so much more fun to drive... Of course the auto will be more consistent at the track... I guess it really boils down to which you feel is more important. I still vote manual though. lol

Re: Good news and bad news

4-speed is far more retro and cool.

besides, with all that torque you don't need 6 gears. (aren't 5th and 6th on the T56 both overdrive gears anyway?)

Re: Good news and bad news

Yes but if he ever wants to go on a decent lil jaunt the extra two gears will make it to were his engine won't be idling at 3k rpm at 60 or 70 mph

I do go on a couple longer drives to some different shows sometimes so the overdrive would be nice..

Re: Good news and bad news

DEFFINATLY get a manual. And they do make aftermarket 5 speeds for first gen Camaros, so you can have your prescious overdrive.

my dad has a 65 GMC PU with a 350 and a Muncie rock crusher tranny in it. To bad its not running now. I should tow it back to Oregon when I am down in SoCal next month.
