ran fine this morning wont start now..97 chevy cavalier

ok. my wifes car started and ran fine this morning came home shut it off.went out about 2 hours later and nothing wont turn over no dash lights power door locks nothing.i checked the battery connection and the fuses i thought could cause this.beyound that im lost.any ideas? 97 chevy cavalier

the alternator may have died and the car may have been running of the battery. try boosting it. if that wont work the battery could be shot, dead cell

ok...i jumped it and it fired up.let it run for awhile and it seemed to charge the battery.but im still gonna take the alternator and battery to have them tested.we are planning on taking her car on a trip saturday and i dont wanna chance it.her cavalier gets much better gas mileage than my tahoe..and at $3.39 a gallon thats a no brainer. so thanks alot you were alot of help.
