Question New SVT engine in, but have 2 engine codes popped

I have a 1998 svt contour, and i just put in a new engine in it, it has about 2,500 miles on it right now, and i have had the engine light on ever since i got it running, i poped 2 codes they are. P1000, and P1401, i was wondering if any1 new how to fix thoes codes, i know they have somting to do with the EGR, and the other has to do with monitor testing not being compleeted.
If any1 has put in a new engine or something and knows the problem i would greatly appreciate the help.

Re: New SVT engine in, but have 2 engine codes popped

The P1401 deals with the DPFE. Make sure the 2 rubber hoses which connect to the EGR and the DPFE are still intact and not blown off.

As for the P1000, post over in the troubleshooting branch on the contour forums over www.contour.org. I dont have the answer to that one.

EDIT: Nevermind, I ran a search for the P1000 on CEG and pulled this up. I recommend reading the link Tony posted at the bottom.

Re: New SVT engine in, but have 2 engine codes popped

P1000 like the link said means OBD monitors incomplete. To get rid of this code certain criteria must be met so the monitors can be completed. For example theres the Catalyst Efficiency Monitor in which the exhaust has to reach a certain temp, fuel system must be closed loop, and post cat O2 sensors have to show that the cat is efficiently doing is job, once this is completed then the monitor is considered "complete". Theres the EVAP system monitor and a few others that i can't remember off the top of my head. But for that code to be cleared they all have to be completed which indicates that all emmissions systems are a go. In some states that do conduct OBDII systems emissions checks this code will not allow you to get an Emissions/Safety sticker. So if your light is on then don't think that getting it repaired the day before you need it will allow you to get the sticker, because the monitors have yet to be completed. Some manufacturers like VW actually have scanner capabilities that will command certain monitors to be ran. And their manuals tell you how to run other monitors that can only be completed by driving the vehicle for example accelerate to this speed, then slow down to this speed, then acccelerat again etc.,ect.
