96 Sable Steering wheel Vibration
Okay, I replaced two motor mounts on this thing, now when the car is at idle in gear (like at a red light), I get a vibration in the steering wheel. It goes away when I start moving again, only to come back at the next stop.
The two mounts are the "Front" (Right side) mounts. I checked the transmission mounts and it appears to be okay. Over the last few days the vibration has gradually subsided. Is there a Break in period for Motor Mounts? I'm thinking this could be the cause. But not sure. They are all hydraulic mounts. Any Idea what all could be causing this? I am tending to rule out the Tranny mount as it goes away when moving. The Engine is a 3.0 Liter Vulcan V6 Last edited by diofan; 05-17-2007 at 08:36 AM. |

Re: 96 Sable Steering wheel Vibration
I have a 96 Sable with 110k miles on it and I also have a vibrating steering wheel.
It vibrates when I turn the wheel and it vibrates when I hit the brakes hard. Not sure what it is.

Re: 96 Sable Steering wheel Vibration
My '92 Sable had the same problem after replacing the power steering pump, rack and pinion, and hoses...mechanic found that bleeding the lines through the power switch on the rack and pinion helped tremendously...repeated again after a couple of weeks...problem solved...hope this helps! RW
