Starter.....

I have a 1986 Grand Prix, it sat, without any attention, for about 10 months. I'm gonna be honest, it hasn't been taken care of, and has a lot of wear and tear. But I want to restore it, I know VERY little about cars, but I want to learn. My first order of business is getting the car running, I was told I needed a new starter, so I got one, and had someone put it in. By the time he finished, it was 10 at night and dark, but he said that on the old starter there were two places to connect wires, but on the new one, there is only one place to connect the wires, and he couldn't figure it out, what is the problem here? did autozone give me the wrong starter?
