Hot/Cold Dial Broken
I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX and the cold/hot dial seems to be broken. I remember one day dialing from hot to cold and felt a "snap!", then it's just loose and now vents are stuck to hot air. Can someone tell what / how I check or fix?

Re: Hot/Cold Dial Broken
The hot/cold dial does a couple of things: it opens and closes a water valve in the engine compartment and moves some air flaps in the air handling unit. First, look at the valve which is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Have someone turn the knob while you look to see if the valve moves. If it doesn't, then you can manually close the valve at the valve to temporarily fix your problem. If it has become disconnected, re-attach it. If the cable doesn't move, it could be that it became disconnected at the knob and you will have to completely disassemble the unit to get to the problem. Tell us what you find.

Re: Hot/Cold Dial Broken
Thanks for the tip on temporary fix. I'll check it.
When you say I'll have to "completely disassemble the unit to get to the problem", do you mean... totally removing part or all of the dashboard to get behind the controls? |

Re: Hot/Cold Dial Broken
Dont over look simple solutions I've had several of the knobs break/strip out on my 93 (same knob as 94) and also on my friends 94 I got replacements from the dealer only about $6. My guess is your cables are probably OK, its just the knob is not turning the metal control shaft anymore.

Re: Hot/Cold Dial Broken
I assume I can just pry off the knob off of the dash to see it is stripped, cracked, etc.
