turbonetics vs customs

Well I have 2 turbo's.
1 being a turbonetics, and the other a mismatched t3 t4.
The turbonetics is a nonballbearing t3 t4 .63 stage 3 exhaust, and a 550whp compressor.
The mismatched one is a .48 ar exhaust stage 1, and a 55 lbs compressor (.60 ar).
I'll start by saying night and day. The turbonetics is insanely more powerful. I thought the custom would have been the ultimate street turbo. It spools almost instantly. Boost is easily adjusted from 7 to 13 lbs...
the turbonetics is so much better of a turbo that it actually pulls harder at 7 psi than the custom at 13... The turbonetics actually spools to 7 lbs at about 4500 without the wastegate even attached....

I would say the turbonetics would beat the custom in a race with the wastegate detached and the custom running 13 psi...

weird part is the turbonetics doesnt really actuate the bov very much at all (only a small psst) as where the custom says WWWHHHOOOOOOSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH just from releasing the throttle????

really odd.......

I guess its back to the turbonetics....

Thought I would run the custom at 10lbs and have a lot streetier setup.... no luck....

But the turbonetics make there a major boost in power at 5000 psi like the boost goes way up... But it doesn't, steady 7 psi?????
Its like the ecu gets really aggresive timing at this point......
Anybody know how a stock turbo ecu (84 50th) timing and fuel tables look???

Alos one more thing... When I put my apexi avc-r in I hooked the inj pulse monitor on and it reads like its using 1-3 % of the injector...... (high impedence inj.?????)

Long story short... TURBONETICS RULE!!!!!!!!

Re: turbonetics vs customs

I am WAY too tired to read that much. As for the ECU maps..... maybe Z1..... doubtful.... No clue.

Re: turbonetics vs customs

I guess I should have proof read.
The turbonetics (feels) like it has a major boost spike at 5000 rpms.. but it doesn't, the boost stays right at 7 psi...
And on the note of the apexi, the inj monitor reads that only 1-3% of the injector is being used... I wonder if its supposed to be used on high impedence inj.???

Re: turbonetics vs customs

OK I'm back down to the turbonetics. The custom died.
The shaft snapped...
probably because it was unbalanced..
And the bumble at idle is back... I know what it is now though..
The crossover tube is leaking in the exhaust.......
The turbo as a result takes a little more to spool.
And my daily driver (94 saturn) blew the transmission seal out. No not a half axle seal either the input shaft seal.....
So I have to pull the motor from that... And by daily driver I mean I let my mom drive my car and thats the one...
So I either replace that seal or figure out whats wrong with my camaro (carb needs rebuild.)

Also my 300 smokes bad whenever I run boost for the first multiple passes... After driving for about 2 hours then make 3 good passes it clears up
(rarley step on it more than 1 pass at a time)
Is it because for the turbo to efficiently pump 550 whp Alot more exhaust heat would be present??
Or is it the engine (rings valve guides ect.)

Just voicing my thoughts allthough second opinions would be appreciated..
Also yes the is some residue in intake lines but that seems to accumilate in na cars alos (very very thin greasy like coating)( was present after about 500 miles) allthough under boost it isnt there at all.)

Also bov is working better now.. I had the one that was one there the seal blew out on me????????? Junk
