4 cyl. mpg vs. 6 cyl. mpg-What do you get?

Wanting to buy a car for my wife who commutes back and forth to work. She drives our 02 GMC Envoy for now and it get's 16-17 mpg. I'm looking for a car that would get 30 mpg(all interstate miles) in order to cut the weekly gas bill. We use to have a 2000 Neon that would get (auto trans) 35 mpg interstate driving. There's a couple of Tiburon's here in the area and both have the 4cyl. automatic trans setup. Now i'm not looking for speed but it would be nice to get something that is fun to drive but also(main thing)would get the better mileage. So what kind of mileage would the 4 get or would it be better to get the 6 cyl.? Many thanks!

The 4-cyl will get better than the 6, but it's not a huge difference if you drive conservatively. We have a 4-cyl Elantra and it gets about 33 on the highway. My V6 Tib gets about 29-30 highway if I'm conservative. In mixed city/highway I usually average about 23-26

go with the 6cyl, its not much worse and if she gets into the situation where she needs the power, then she'll be thankfull for the 2 extra cyls.
