Is there an easy way to reset the check engine light? Do I have to disconnect the battery every time?

Take it in and have the code read. The ECU is trying to tell you something. The best way to get rid of a CEL is to fix your truck.

We are trying to troubleshoot the problem ourselves...

You gave us the Repair manual now we need to use that and fix it.

I guess the battery is the only way...
