'93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

I have '93 C1500 W/T truck with a 4.3L and a 5 speed manual. The turn signals were flashing rapidly. I replaced a burnt out turn signal/brake light bulb, and checked all of the others. All of the bulbs work now but there flasher is still very fast. Would using the incorrect flasher unit cause this or do you all have any other ideas? Also, the reverse light are not working although the bulbs test out fine.

Thank you

you should have two fashers one for turn signals and one for flashers you can try to turn them around or get new flasher and see what it dose for you but i wouldn't worry about it and your back up lights there is a switch that is not working or broken wire..get a hanes manual for this........good luck.....

Re: '93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

I'll try switching the emergency flasher (It seems to be working correctly) with the turn signal flasher as soon as I find the energency flasher (I haven't really looked for it yet). I picked up a couple of repair manuals at the library last night. Hopefully, they will help me find it.

Re: '93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

I tried switching the flashers but they are nowhere near the same. Their connector pattern is totally different. I also picked up a new flasher at the local Auto Zone. I talked them into letting me just try it out in the parking lot. It didn't fix the problem, so I gave it back to them. So they are still flashing fast, any other ideas?

Re: '93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

I had the same problem with a 1998 model and I want to say it was a loose ground. It's been a few years and I don't remember, but I always had problems with the driver side reverse light. There were several times when a new bulb (straight out of the box) wouldn't work in one socket but would in another so I ended up just putting new bulbs in a lot.

Re: '93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

like i said i wouldn't worry about them flashing that fast atleast you know they work..and as far as the ground trace the wire on back up lites but they should be already grounded you might think about replaing the sockets that the lites go in or clean them up so you know there getting contack..then that don't work trace the wires as far as you can on back up lites to see if you can find the break in the wires.one more question are you puting them in and not putting them all the way togeher because you might be loosing ground there.so i'd check back up lites when you put it all the way together..
good luck..

Re: '93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

Ok the problem with the back-up lights is the switch in the tranny. It always has a broken signal when tested. I still can't fiqure out the fast flashing anf it is annoying the hell out of me. I checked the ground connecetions where the lighting wire harnesses attached at the front and rear of the truck. I even cleaned up (filed and sanded) to make sure there were good connections. All of the turn signals, parking lights, and brake lights are working. The turn signals are just really fast. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Re: '93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

I replaced the back-up switch so the back-up lights work fine. The Hanes manual and the Chilton manual (picked them up at the local library) are no help for this fast turn signal flashing problem. I am stumped!

The ground is at the right rear framerail close to the rear bumper. Sometimes other grounds located behind tail lights. Good luck.

Re: '93 C1500 W/T Turn signals flashing fast

I found the problem! The front signals have 2 bulbs in each housing. Why, I don't know. So, it looked as though the front signal bulbs were good, but one of the bulbs on the right side was out. Thanks for all of the help!
