1987 olds calais

hey , i have a 87 olds calais, 3.0 ltr v-6, auto, when the car first starts up it runs at 2000 rpm, then whenit begins to get warm it drops to 1500 rpm,its like it is stuck on fast idle ,but it wont kick down, the idle goes up and down from 500 rpm 1800 a short while after that and continues to idle rough,if i let it run for a while 10 minutes or so, it will eventually die and wont restart ,if i let it sit for 15-20 minutes it will sometimes restart, but not very often,i have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, wires ,plugs , coils, fuel pressure regulator, air filter any idea as to why this happens ?? any help would be greatfull.thanks again

Re: 1987 olds calais

Welcome to AF, possible bad idle air control in the throttle body for racing. Check for spark and and proper fuel pressure when it won't start. the maf were also known issues on this car, as well as the crank sensor, ;lots of symptoms, start with the basic checks when it won't start.
