Rust and other sh!t....

i hope to be trading in the Montana soon since it has 103K miles and i really want to get rid of it before all the known problems start happening. What i am really concerned about is the rust spots. I have 3 spots that rust is brewing under the paint. 1 spot on the roof and 2 on the hood. I know they will take off for that in a trade in. but to me thats not my fault. its GMs. anyone else agree?

Re: Rust and other sh!t....

It's a 8 year old van with 103k miles. I think GM's (or any automaker for that matter) responsibility for paint flaws has long since expired.

That is crazy.........mine is a 2000, silver/gray color and I have the exact number of spots in the same areas as you do. Kind of disgusting, but after I talked to the local dealer I was informed they would not do anything unless it was rusted all the way through.

Re: Rust and other sh!t....

I live in NY where there is heavy salt usage on the roads in the wnter. My 1997 Venture held up pretty good over the years, but all of the sudden a few years ago I noticed the paint failing and rust developing on the hood near the windshield, the roof near the windshield( this ended up becoming so bad water from rain started infiltrating the interior and dripping down from the interior light,) the back hatch near the handle trim, and finally both side rocker panels completely rusted out. I am now starting to see more of these vans, (Ventures and Montanas, we don't see too many Silhouettes in my area,)with rust in those places.
