As the topic says, I'm looking for a good quality gravity feed double action 0.5mm AB. Mainly for body color and clear coating.
Preferably (but not necessarily) one that can be bought for 200 US or lower. Preferably (again not necessarily) pistol trigger type operation. One I've found so far is the Tamiya Spray-Work HG Wide Airbrush - Trigger Type (which has 233 MSRP) I'm also looking for some sites that sell AB's for reasonable prices that will ship internationally. (www.dixieart.com hasn't been working for me for a while now) Also, I've heard about certain models being capable of spraying 'fan patterns', I'm not sure (and hoping for clarification) if this is useful for our hobby. Thanks for any replies beforehand, Steve

Re: Need suggestions for 0.5mm AB
You've already specified all the important things-

Sorry to hear Dixieart isn't working for you. What seems to be the problem? I've had excellent experinces with them (but of course they are domestic for me). I would still use their site as a price and availibility guide, and then pick what you can find. A friend of mine recently ordered this Tamiya/Iwata brush from this site. He said the transaction was fine. I borrowed it to compare with my Badger 100 (which I just love!). The Tamiya brush was great, and could do everything equally well as my Badger- but I found that the Badger was easier to clean. But beyond the basic design (double action gravity feed), the specific brand quickly becomes little more than personal preference....

Re: Need suggestions for 0.5mm AB
I own a 0.3 Iwata HP-CS and a badger 100 gxf, lately I bought (with same intents as your) the 0.5 Revolution HP-TR: it seems to match all your requests: I found around for 250+$ but in clearance at spraykinks for less than 200 bucks: until I have in hand I'll say something.

Re: Need suggestions for 0.5mm AB
I've been using the Tamiya Spraywork HG Wide 0.5mm with the trigger for a few months now and would recommend it without a shadow of a doubt. It's reliable, easy to clean, sprays really nicely. You can apply primer with it,colour coats and clearcoats with ease.It really is a very versatile airbrush.Capable of spraying finer lines and yet it can also lay down wet colour coats and clearcoats.

Re: Need suggestions for 0.5mm AB
I would recommend An Iwata Revelotion CR, That's what I use
![]() But for Fan and Trigger go for the Iwata Kustom TH Airbrush which I also have and use for 2K Clear Coating, Quite Expensive thou' |

Re: Need suggestions for 0.5mm AB
Ditto for the Revolution CR. It fits all you criteria, is at the low end price wise and is an utterly fantastic 'brush, I use it for all my modeling.

The TH is what I have been drooling over...but don't have the finacial freedom to get yet. This is what I'm planning to get over the next 2 or 3 months: Detail work: HP-CH Body work: to be decided (Tamiya's HG Wide Ab- Trigger Type has most 'votes' so far) Will check up on the AB's mentioned. Thanks for the replies everyone!! Steve
