Engine Temp

96, 4.0 Liter, 147,000 miles
Just out of curiosity, I've read most of the threads about engine temp for the Aurora. Basically, these engines run hot!
How hot? I mean on the gauge. Mine seems to go to the line just before it would redline. It never seems to go over that, but my wife drives it so maybe it does and she just doesn't know it. I've replaced almost everything for the cooling system: water pump, thermostat(twice), and radiator.
When we get back from a day of driving, you can barely touch the hood from the engine being hot. I guess my question is, is it really ok for it to get to the line just before it would redline on the temperature gauge?
Thanks for the Help.

Re: Engine Temp

If you are worried it get a scanner on it and see the actual temp, 190-210 is normal, fans come on at about 225.
