My eclipse is in timeout

Yea so this post has 2 topics. First, my eclipse is being a bad girl and has to sit in timeout until i figure out whats wrong with her :P
And second, Ive been lookin at all you frequenter's profiles and I love your choices for mods! What are some of the more popular places to get parts and mods for a 95-99 GSX?

Ive done my saving up, and am in the process of selling a couple cars, so the time has come to do some price searching and stuff. I've looked around A LOT, but I figure before I make any tough choices, ask the people that have already made 'em

Well what exactly do you wanna do to the car?... Once we know that, we can give you a better idea of what needs to be done first and foremost on the car.

Re: My eclipse is in timeout

well right now I just wanna start with getting it fixed lol... i cant figure out whats wrong with it, i need to wait for a friend to run some tests on it. we are both somewhat new to imports besides toyotas (but nothing goes wrong with toyotas so ... meh :P)

but yea i need to start with the basics as far as mods go... i need a good aftermarket exhaust. And the way I look at it, I want to upgrade it with something I am not going to replace again, so something costly but worth the money. After that im looking at intercoolers and maybe some of the required upgrades for when I get a 16g

Well being that this is an eclipse forum, if you post up the problems you are having with your car one of us might be able to help you there

As far as exhaust goes, just because it's expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's the best choice. A few of us have gone with cheaper alternatives and yeilded the same results as those that went with more expensive aftermarket exhausts. A great cheaper exhaust company is Megan racing, their products are quality and allow you to save a bit of money and funnel it into other aspects of your build. But as for everything you need, I would suggest taking a look at this site, it may answer some questions for you.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/sub.php?page=2gtupgrades

On the right side of the page it shows the upgrade paths. Hope this helps.

Re: My eclipse is in timeout

Thanks, and Ill definitely look into that Megan racing exhausts!

And about the car problems, I posted on the diagnosis forums but it looks to me like those forums are kinda dead for the most part :S all the action is here!!!

To sum it up so you dont have to go lookin around... Car worked fine then all the sudden started it, heard a knocking and the car wont stay on for more than 6 seconds (computer is shutting it down because there seems to be a problem)

But anyways, do you order your mods online? If not, how do you purchase them? If so, what site carries some pretty good priced stuff? I have noticed that different sites have COMPLETELY different prices, even on the EXACT SAME product... its insane..

Oh and yea I have read that DSMtuners write up, just because I mentioned upgrading the turbo doesn't mean im clueless to how that all works I definitely do not plan on upgrading the turbo until I do a LOT of other stuff to the car and first and foremost making sure everything is functioning properly before ANY upgrades... which is the step im on lol Im just trying to get some insight into where I should go once I do need to start upgrading

I use http://www.extremepsi.com
and http://www.slowboyracing.com

I wouldn't order turbos through slowboy, but most of the other bolt on parts are fine to order through there.

But you can also find alot of good stuff on ebay too.

Yeah as far as where to get parts, I have noticed that Extremepsi.com has been pretty much the cheapest on everything. They have pretty good customer service and everything I have ordered has always been shipped next day. Other than that I order a ton of parts from RoadRaceEngineering.com. Good luck with the build.

I had a slowboyracing big 16G on my GSX. What is so wrong with them? I didn't have a problem.

Not a problem with their turbos. A problem with the fact that I ordered a GT35R from them and it took them three fucking months to get it to me, and then when I finally got it it was the wrong fucking turbo.

They were completely unwilling to work with me from a customer service stand point. Infact their customer service is among the worst I have ever experienced for anything. I tried to cancel my order (before the turbo had even shipped) and they told me they were going to charge me a 15% fee on my purchase to refund it. They called it a "restocking fee" or some BS like that for a turbo that wasn't even sent out or built yet.

That is exactly why I don't buy from them... Too many people have had horrible experience with customer service, and thats an area you should excel in if you wish to have a good rep.
