a few simple mechanic questions

i've got a tt180 and it needs a new serpentine belt. is this hard to replace myself? it also needs new brakes. following the service manual i can do it myself, however, if anyone has any hints that would be great. i'm new to working on cars so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

Re: a few simple mechanic questions

The belt might be a little tricky but it could be done on your own I guess, but how many miles are on the car? If your over 60K you need to worry about the timing belt because if it breaks your motor is toast.

the brakes are pretty easy to do, make sure you dont strip the set screws on the rotors, and make sure you have a way to turn and compress the piston on the rear brakes.

good luck

Re: a few simple mechanic questions

i checked the timing belt and it needed replacing soon so i jsut sent it to the mechanic and had them do the serpentine belt too since the engine was mostly out of the car at that point. thanks for the advice though.
