ran into an s281

I was going down the street when I see a pretty nice '02 (not sure of the year...just guessing) saleen. I'm not sure which version it is but I've heard about him and that he had some work done...so I'm figuring this should be fun.

We ended up turning on a highway and I switched to the far left lane and nailed it to see if he was game. He didn't bite and I ended up getting pretty far ahead of him. So I just said whatever and started cruising at about 50

Well...I looked in my rearview and see him start to come up on my pretty quick (seemed like a flyby) so I threw it in third and nailed it once he got about a car behind me. We stayed even until about 70 (I started getting some nasty spark blowout) so I had to short shift third. Once I got to fourth I pulled ahead a couple cars up til 100 then cut off. (once again..because of the spark blowout)

another kill for the old ass 95 cobra....and will have some colder/regapped plugs shortly

What do you have done to the cobra? It sounds like a good race.

Re: ran into an s281

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to post up. I don't have any dyno numbers yet but, there's a dyno day coming up soon so hopefully I'll be able to make it up there and FINALLY see what this combo makes. Also, no track times either The local track closed down before I finished dropping the engine in the car. Sorry I don't have any actual proof...but I will hopefully soon.

Stig --

1995 5.0 cobra...bored to a forged 306 (8.7:1 compression ratio)

Vortech S-trim supercharger (pullied for 8 lbs currently..but moving up one day)

Windsor heads ported and polished (180cc runners)
1.6 roller rockers
ported and polished cobra intake
custom ground blower cam (.536 lift)
BBK longtube headers
BBK H-pipe
Borla catback
285 tires in the rear with 265 in the front on 18" saleens
adjustable upper control arms
lower control arms
sub-frame connectors
3.73 rear gears
spec stage 3 clutch
eibach springs

Vortech fuel rails
42 lb/hr injectors
fluidyne radiator

msd ignition module/coil
msd distributor
wideband and other gauges
Prolly a few other little things I'm forgetting..

OH YEAH,

and....a few "NOS" stickers to help this thing get out of it's own way...seriously, this thing's a pig weighing in at around 3500 lbs.

All self tuned by me using the Tweecer tuning device (still working out a tune for this thing. It's alright right now...but, I think there's a lot more power left in it...I'm just slowly bumping up the timing until I can get to a dyno and finally get all the little bugs worked out.

I'll have some pics and maybe a vid here soon.

Also..it's a money pit.....but I love it This has been one of my affordable dream cars since I was about 12...and now I finally have my engine built for this car (good portion of the work done by me sans machine shop stuff)....not bad for a 19 year old

btw, great forum

Re: ran into an s281

Well, we welcome all the new comers we get. We also enjoy that somebody people who are willing to deal with a little crap thrown their way when they first join. I'll explain, we get folks who join up and start spouting off that they killed this, or they raced that and so forth. They say their ride is built to the hilt yet can't prove jack squat. Or get defensive when we ask what's done to it.

Basically, we call Bullshit on them call them out in public fashion to get them to either fess up to their dumbass ways or to just leave. And by leave, I really mean we ban them for being a dumbass. So, expect to get a bit of hell for all the right and wrong reasons from a plethora of people.

If you can make it past initially first few posts and get back to people with the right answers. You'll be one of the guys... otherwise you're labled another poser who's just looking to look cool on the internet.

And... you can't look cool on the internet. Especially when a majority of the internet population spends half their time either lookin at porn with their pants around their ankles or playing World of Warcraft trying to be Mr. badass with your Ninja Knight who gets killed by some Elven Princess played by some fat dude named Steve.

You just can't be cool on the web... so... in closing... welcome to AF.

Oh, and the membership dues can be paypaled to me.

Re: ran into an s281

Nothing to hide here...I put a lot of time...and blood (literally) and sweat into this car..I love telling people what it's got. Granted...it needs a new paint job and I'm reallly wanting to paint my engine bay and clean it up a bit. I think I'd almost be embarrassed to post pics of the bay, lol.

haha...so...it's not cool to look at porn with your pants down

I know what you mean though..way too many fake people.

"yeah, I own a 2002 camaro with 700 hp....but I'd have to get my build sheet in order to tell you the parts that are on it." ...... sure.

I don't have any vids with the supercharger on there but I do have one that has a quick rev on it (only up til about 3500 rpm...the neighbors hate when I go past that). Not too great of a vid...

Figure I might as well post it up

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjBLLk-0ukw

sorry for the quality...I promise I'll get some up with the supercharger on it....10 times louder than that vid. I'll get a few shots of the engine bay as well.

Re: ran into an s281

If you want to prove any nay-sayers. Set your camera up on a tripod, take a video of your car, walk in front of the car with a sign with your screen name on it.

But, pics and more videos are always welcome.

Nice, always nice to have somebody who's cooperative. Not that anybody has given you shit in this particular section yet... but can't hurt.

Warmer weather is always better... just higher gas prices.

Re: ran into an s281

like I said..nothing to lie about I don't blame y'all though...I'd give people shit to if they claimed to be taking out z06s and couldn't back anything up.

Gas prices....don't even mention those. My tunes are setup to use premium...and I have the typical american car with "Horrible gas mileage"

But...I'd rather pay premium than pay for a headgasket.
