Re: A/C leak
If you are asking about the dye and special light they do work.

Re: A/C leak
If thats a 97 with original air you are very lucky. All the compressors blow the front seal at some point usually within 5 years and never get a rebuilt only a new one - cost diff not much and the rebuilts will blow in 1-2 years!
70-80K is the max any of mine two 98 and one 99 ever went on originals but the 01 is at 95k so have $800 ready for that this summer. |

Re: A/C leak
In my -98 there is a same problem. How do I diagnose if the leak is in compressor. I still have some pressure left in the system, would it be completely empty if ..? Or should I just take it to the shop to be refilled??

But for leak checking they make a dye and light kit that works good. But most of the time you will need to recharge it first and then check for leaks. Many places they can leak. Also a tell tail sign of a leak is ac oil seeping at the leak.
