Smile central locking probs

Had no problems to date, but locked my '93 Nissan Sunny yesterday, went to open it 3 hours later and central locking wouldn't work... passenger door cud be opened independantly, but not driver's door...had thought of taking door panel off, but obviously can't get to it coz can't open door!

Can open back doors from drivers if I hold open the door handle whilst doin the central locking, but has no effect to the drivers door,so I'm havin to climb over from passenger seat (not very dignified) ANY IMPUT GREATLY ACCEPTED

Re: central locking probs

The drivers door locks are common for failing, they have a little mechanism inside them that has a spring/latch fall off and it stops the door from being unlocked by any normal means. The central locking is controlled by a motor at the bottom of this lock, while the key/handle works on the top of this lock. The broken part is in the middle of the lock. This lock holds onto the little U shaped bar you see when you open the passenger door near your seal belt.

Took about 2 hours for a mechanic to open the door. Had to break a part of the door lock mechanism for it to open.
