Thought you guys might want to know...dyno #'s and track times

Pics and Videos will be up soon, but for now i just wanted to say a few things....

On a conservative tune at 10psi, the car made 306.1whp and 208.2ft/lbs

I ran at the track w/ both drag radials and street tires....sadly, i did better w/ the street tires because i'm not too good at launching the radials yet.... I'm also not very consistant yet because i was trying different launches and different RPM ranges on the launch just to see what's better for my car and setup...

STREET TIRES

Reaction----.799
60'----------2.299
330'---------6.065
Mid MPH-----87.80
660'---------8.932
990'---------11.294

I know its not a Cavalier, but i'm over in this area quite a bit....i wanted to share. I'm curious to see what some of the turbo Cavvy's around here are making/tracking.

Re: Thought you guys might want to know...dyno #'s and track times

that's some really good going to make 306whp on only 10psi.

I know of j-s that run low to mid 13's heavier on boost than that though.

I have run 15.5 with no traction with a cold air intake.

Shooting for low 15's when i get to the track soon, that's on 17's and maybe i'll m,ake some sort of attempt to roemve things like sub, spare that kind of thing

Re: Thought you guys might want to know...dyno #'s and track times

the odd thing about my setup is that if you look at the turbo, you'd think it would spool off idle and die off up top,.....completely opposite of what actually happens...

is this the gt3255 you refer to in your sig? that is pretty similar to a t03/04 hybrid right? I wouldn't imagine you'd lag on that. what sort of manifold do you have? running a big i/c?

Re: Thought you guys might want to know...dyno #'s and track times

Yes the turbo falls under the T3/T04E category, but then again, so do about 10,000 other variations.

The turbo is most similar to a 57trim T3/T04E except that my turbo has a 55mm inducer wheel and an extrude honed B housing rather than an E. There are also variations in the compressor and exhaust wheels that make it a GT series Journal bearing turbo rather than a standard T series. It still runs the same T031 turbine housing in the .63ar like most standard 57trims as well.

As for the manifold, i'm running a top mount. Much of the lag is due to the combination of this manifold and my Hallman MBC. The topmount i have is geared towards having a lot of top end power, but sacrificing a little mid range. The top end on this car is sick though and the mid is nice, but by comparison, it is crap. To put it in perspective, i have 205/50/15 Falken Ziex 512s and if i go 45-50mph in 2nd gear (like when i get on the interstate) and i step on it, once it builds boost, the tires break free...and that's at 60mph!! I'll have the graphs posted once i get them emailed to me from my tuner...i have the paper copies, but that doesn't help anyone since Andrew (my own personal photographer :P) is about 80 miles away...

Work on those r/ts and your 60's and you might possibly hitting high 12s. Need to work on your lower end so your 60's can get were they need to be. Good numbers though.

Re: Thought you guys might want to know...dyno #'s and track times

I've been talking to a few guys on Honda-tech and Mac (the one who built my turbo) and they were saying that if i got the 60's down in the sub 2 sec range that my traps are fast enough to pull a mid to low 12 on my drag radials...

Like I said, your r/ts factor in a bit as well. Lets face it every spec of time counts at the track. My r/ts is where I normally shine. When I start hitting .200 r/t times I end up getting pissed and all the fun is gone for me.

r/t's dont matter at all on test&tune as the time doesn't start until you break the light. I have a slip somewhere where i ran a 15.7 with a 5 second r/t so by that reconing i should be able to run a 10.7

Re: Thought you guys might want to know...dyno #'s and track times

Something odd with either the tune or something. Every turbo setup Ive helped with and been around my entire life has had almost 100% matching hp and tq numbers and in most cases the curves are the same as well. Then again Ive only delt in the realm of american motors so that could be it.

Re: Thought you guys might want to know...dyno #'s and track times

horsepower and tq numbers would be a lot closer on most domestic 4cylinders because they are larger engines generally and they dont usually rev much higher than 5252 which is the crossover point....
