'02 Windstar compressor shot- compressor?
Well, I had the car serviced after the air wouldn't cool and the compressor was beginning to make a clicking sound, so the tech (who I trust) said there was no leak, and there was refrigerant.
If I bought the parts, he's only charge labor and tank the refrigerant, so my question is, is the Ready-Aire or Visteon compressors (w/ clutch) as good as the factory? Is there really much difference? I'm looking around 200-244 between the three brands. I'm replacing the accumulator and orifice tube with Motorcraft parts. Thanks, dkc_2001 |

I cannot speak to the quality of either type you reference, however, you can buy a new Motorcraft from rockauto.com for $219, and they will carry the accumulator and hose in Motorcraft too, and at a much better price than your local dealer and about the same as y2kford.com. Rockauto is outstanding. I have purchesed, returned and exchanged with them on a number of occasions with no problems at all. Good Luck |
