engine problem

I Need to know what year engines. I am changing the one that is in there now so what years will fit in my 96 2.2 i tryed a 94 it will not work it has no crank sensor and i dont want to change computer, the engine mounts ect. then the emissons whuld not pass for inspection. thanks ray
