Two questions

My first question is in regards to the side-view mirrors (passenger and driver side). I was wondering if anyone can direct me to a place to buy mirrors that are adjustable from the mirror itself, not the whole thing. The reason I ask is because the mirrors I have are the paddle design, and while that's great and all, the darn things seem to flip whenever I'm on the highway. It's a real nuisance for sure. So I am hoping if someone can tell me a brand of mirrors, or direct me to a specific retailer. Or do I need to go custom?

My second question is the Transmission modulator valve. Where in the hell is this thing? I want to avoid going to a tranny specialist when I already know what the problem is (My grandfather's 88 mustang did the same thing when the tranny wouldn't shift or would have a severe delay in shifting). I figure if I can eliminate the modulator valve, I can go from there. I've looked through the Chilton repair manual and ... no luck.

Anyway I have an 89 Bronco II XL (not sure if that's relevant), with a 2.9L v6 (VIN code "T" for anyone who's interested to know).

Any help given is much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Two questions

Should be a screw behind a ball swivel on the mirrors that can be adjusted so that they don't flop around at speed.

As far as the modulator, it is on the left side of the tranny as you face it from the front. It is basically vacuum operated diaphram. There is a vacuum line going into it originating at the intake of the vehicle. Usually these diaphrams get a hole in them or torn and it sucks transmission fluid out of the transmission. Check the inside of the vacuum hose at the intake for any red colored fluid. The diaphram assembly just screws into the side of the trans.

Re: Two questions

Errr.... let me guess, I actually have to take off the side view mirrors in order to adjust that screw huh? If that's the case, fuck it. I'll deal with the mirrors as they are.

Sorry, it's nothing against you, it's just that I bought this truck a year ago from a private party, and while it's been great, I think that nothing was ever done to it, EXCEPT for the grill guard that I just took off, and maybe the not-so-stock tires on it as well. Everything else (with one other exception being the battery) is pretty much stock!

Re: Two questions

The screw in this case is at the bottom of the stem that appears to hold the mirror on.
