Stop Leak
Is it a bad idea add stuff like this? I have a slight oil leak and its coming from the top of the engine somewhere as its getting on the heatshield(or whatever it is) on the bottom side of the hood. If I run my fingers down it they are oily but its no visible.
I am usually adding a quart or two after every oil change. I just got the oil changed and was thinking about adding something that might stop or slow it down. I've heard though adding them ain't usually a good idea. But if I do add something whats recommended? I got a 2000 Grand Am BTW. |

Re: Stop Leak
You mentioned oil changes, why not ask the ones performing your change?
Then again I don't know what you're asking, I couldn't really understand it the way you wrote it. EDIT: if it feels oily, but there's no oil, it could just be grease? |

Re: Stop Leak
Do not add any stop leak to your vehicles fluids as they have a tendancy to plug small passages inside the engine/radiator/transmission. Find out where the leak is coming from and just fix it. If you are getting oil splattered on the underside of the hood you may have a fron seal leak that is allowing oil to drip onto the moving parts and then flung around the engine compartment. Also check the valve cover as they tend to be the first place leaks start.
