1992 Cherokee engine swap
I have a 1992 Cherokee Laredo bad engine 4.0 litre I have access to a 1993 4.0 litre to swap in. This engine is complete from the head to oil pan will this be a direct bolt in or do I need the wiring harness or the CPU from the 93?
Thanks to all. Jim |

Re: 1992 Cherokee engine swap
Yeah, it should go straight in, but I'd get the harness and CPU as well. Just in case. You never know dude.

Re: 1992 Cherokee engine swap
Thanks to all who replied I went ahead and bought the 92 cherokee, 4.0 litre auto, I had mentioned that I was going to swap out the engine with a 93 model. When I went to look at and purchase the 92 the lady said it had a ROD KNOCK, I started the XJ it made a slight to moderate clacking noise but stopped after starting. I drove the XJ home Aprox 15 miles no noise whatsoever on acceleration or deceleration. It does blow smoke when sitting for a minute or two. could this just be a bent or cracked push rod? or piston slap?
has anyone encountered this before? thanks everybody |
