02 Envoy SLT - Driver Side Speaker Issue

Hi There,

I have an 02 Envoy SLT with the Bose system and 6-disc in dash changer. Recently, I have had a strange problem.

The driver's side dash speaker is crackling speratically. It is especially evident when you hear the door open chime, which even fades in and out too.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 02 Envoy SLT - Driver Side Speaker Issue

The Bose system is strange, to put it mildly. The subs are actually in both front doors, with 3.5s in the dash and 5 1/4s in the rear doors. I would suspect you have a blown 3.5 in the dash. Alot of people say the rear speakers aren't working, checked mine & sure enough I had one gone. I replaced with JVC 3 ways and they are a big improvement. However the front speakers drown out the backs. I just set my fader more to the rear. I am going to replace my 3.5s in the dash too, this would seem to be quite the task as the grilles do not come off and you have to go in through the dash to get to them. If you change yours be sure to post here about how hard it was, I'm sure it is a PITA. Cruthcfield.com has good replacement speakers of all sizes. Be sure to check the bose system in the options as they are entirely different from GM stereos.
