=] New Ride =]

Hey all its been awhile. As some of you know ive been looking for a new and improved cavvy for awhile now and i finally came across one i could not pass up.. My girlfriend works at a dealership, so some girl traded her 2002 cavalier in and as u all know if u trade ur car into a dealership they lowball the beans out of you.. In this case i benefitted lol.

I landed myself a 2002 silver 2 door cavvy, 4spd auto, cd player, manual locks and windows [i like], very good condition one scrape on rear bumper and what looks like a foot long "key" scratch on the front right fender. She has only 123,000 km's [76,400 miles] and the interior and engine bay look very well kept. I am getting an inspection done on it tomorrow and if its all green i should pick her up

Oh ya sorry as for the numbers.. Dealer sticker read "10,995", with a few words from the gf i closed it at 4775 all in, taxes included etc. [Twas cost or what they gave her for the car!] I dont mind saving 6 grand on a car, thats the main reason why i picked her up, she has been keeping her eye open for cavvys for me but this has been the only one that has drove nice and well kept.

I know it has the 2200 OHV but u know what, my 96 OHV has 245,000 km's on her and it still runs like a clydesdale.. Im thinking of just doing some little things to her like tinting the windows and maybe some bolt ons etc.

Wish me luck guys! Ive been looking for a sexy little 2 door for awhile now, and yes i wanted an auto btw.. I am quite happy i will have pics up tomorrow or the next day For now heres kind of what she looks like..

P.S. Whats easiest way to rid like a scuff on a rear bumper like what it has. it looks like she backed and slid off something, there is no dentage just scrapage and one piece of paint missing, the whole deal is only like 8 inches long but i wouild like to touch it up along with that key scrape if i could. Does that little touch up paint from canadian tire or autozone actually work? You can surprisingly barely see the scratches because its silver [w00t]. Thanks for any !

Re: =] New Ride =]

K couple things. We are all talking Canadian dollars here. And i know you can all go and translate what 10,995 can is, its 9,897 USD which seems outrageous, but your dollar bites ass right now, a few years ago 10,995 would be like 6500-7000 usd no jokes.

Secondly it is a dealership, the girl brought her car in for a trade in and of course they low ball you, so they gave her 4000 canadian. Girlfriend says for most part markup is like 6-7 thousand, hence why sticker price was 10,995. I would never ever pay 11 grand for an 02 with 123k, but they actually do sell them to people for sticker. So either way i was happy to get that much off a car, 4500 total is what i paid which normally would be about $3300 us but now it is 4,050 USD. So CRJ that is why i paid 3300 us for my car because IMO thats a good deal, its just 4050 usd may seem high but understand your dollar is in the pits right now.

Anyways i picked it up yesterday, passed the inspection with flying colors except a little leak in one of the tranny hoses. I am happy with it, she runs smooth and really quiet and seems more snappy than my 96. It really looks sexy now its been thru bubbles car wash I cant wait to make her look real nice and maybe but some bolt ons to her. It was my gf's bday yesterday so im hoping i can snap some pics of her today.

P.S. - My 02 came with P195 70 14's, i thought for the most part after 01, coupes came stock with 195 65 15's? I was wondering if i found some of the 15's off another cav or even the z24 16's would they fit on my car? im not sure how the bolt/thread pattern deals work. The 15's at least shouldnt have any clearance problems the 16's might as they are 205's. Thanks for any input!

Re: =] New Ride =]

any j rims will fit on your car.

that's a pretty good price (i'm on ontario) but the ask was astronomical, to put it in perspective, i paid $6000 for my 03 with 63000km on it, power window, mirrors, keyless alarm, few other thing i can't think of.

I paid $4100 private for my 01 4 door ls with 121,000km. Care are worth a litte more out in Alberta typically so I would say judging by the market it was a good price.

Wow fast reply lo;l i was going to edit but w/e. What would be a better choice nab some 15's from a j or z24 16's? I know rubber will be more $_$ for 16's but wud they give me superiority over 15's? Same as 15's how much of a diff is it going from 14" to 15"?

superiority how? comfort, handling, looks, the 16's always look nice the tires wont be much of a problem 205/55r16 is a very popular size of tire. there isn't really much point going up to a 15 form the 14" steely. if you're going to spend the oney get the 16's otherwise you'll porbably wish you had.

Re: =] New Ride =]

I live in Nova Scotia (Canada) and I bought my 2001 Z24, Silver, with almost exact scratches on bumper as on yours! lol, also minor scratches on trunk from clearing snow with hard shovel. It had 134, 000 kms when I bought it. Engine bay very clean and also very clean underneath. I paid $5000, private sale, online kijiji.ca. I guess I should consider myself lucky!!!!

after the z's life was enexpectedly ended I bought a car within 3 days, which my fiancee now drives,

it's a lovely 2200 got about as much poke and a grnadma with no fingers.

it's a 5 speed though. bought it cheaper than market(book value was $5900 at the time) because they guy who had owned it since new always had trouble getting 1st gear and the dealer could never work it out, they even filled the trans with that Saturn fluid. I worked it out on the test drive, took me 10 mins to adjust side-sside shift cable and fix the problem, that coupled with the bloewr resistor and noisy strut mounts is why he sold it cheap!

this all happened in December

No curent plane to do anything to the 4 door, although I may tune it to be more economical with hpt
