89 Toyota Camry V6

I have a camry that's been sitting since about last summer. For some reason I can't get it to start. It needs an oil seal replaced in the timing area but other than that, I've never had a problem starting it. This isn't the first time i've let it sit for a while.

If you haven't already, get rid of the gas in the tank and replace it with fresh gas.

Dag is that really necessary? Does something happen to the gas when it sits for a while?

Its possible to get water in the tank, which wont let the car start.

The most volatile components of the gas evaporate over time and make the gas less atomizable by the injectors and less combustable by the plugs. This may not be your problem, but it is in many cases where the car has sat for months.

all this sounds reasonable. How do i let the gas out?

Drain plug on the bottom of the tank - and a large container or three.

I would siphon out as much as you can before you remove the drain plug. 2 or 3 gallons is much easier to deal with than 15.

I vaguely recall something about gas restore additives on the market for exactly these kind of situations. If they work, could avoid the draining process.

OP,
Look to the basics. Are you getting spark? Can you hear the fuel pump start? Are you getting fuel pressure? Did a critter chew on the wiring while the car sat?
Try spraying some starting fluid into the intake and see if it tries to fire. If it doesn't you likely have an ignition problem.

Yes i am getting spark and there are no signs of chewing on the lines. But i have discovered that no fuel is getting to the fuel rail. Could this be the fuel pump? I guess i could test the fuel pump to see if it's working properly. Could anything else be causing this?
