My 89 Toyota 4X4 V6 pickup want start

I think it may be the fuel pump, but I want to see what you all say.

OK I can spray some starter fluid in it, and it will run for a second. I do not hear the fuel pump working if I am at the gas tank, but I never could here it before from the cab, so I do not know if you should hear it or not. Does it have a fuse, or a relay switch and if so where is it?? My owners manual does not say anything about one. Is there any way to check the fuel pump before I take it off?? What other things could be the problem??

The truck ran just fine when I parked it, and then a few days later I went to start it, and it would turn over, but would not hit a lick.
