Question Sluggish

Working on my 94 Explorer, currently when you press the gas you have to ease into it or it just revs up, when you go gentle it will run fine.
My dad has me doing all the work and suggested new plugs and wires (there is a slight click while in idle) he also said something about sea foam. Will this help any?

Re: Sluggish

Are you saying that if you don't ease into it, the engine revs like the transmission is in neutral? If so, Sea Foam or plugs and wires isn't going to help. In that case, I'd suggest checking the condition of the transmission fluid and, if questionable, replace the fluid and filter. Unfortunately, this would probably just prolong the time until you need a tranny rebuild only slightly.

Re: Sluggish

Mr.Rod,
The rannie only has 10K on it I was hopeing to stay out of that. Is that the only thing?
When I depress on the pedal it just wont take off, I don't expect a race car I just don't want to get run over.

Re: Sluggish

So the Explorer goes if step on the accelerator, just not as aggressively as you expect it to? Your original post implied that the engine just revs but the truck doesn't go anywhere. Does it act like a slipping transmission? Is the engine running smooth, or does it have a rough idle? What does the transmission fluid look like, and does it have a strong odor?
