Anti lock light anomoly
When I start my 2000 regal, if I step on the brake pedal while starting the engine, the anti-lock light, service engine light and one other come on and stay on. But, if I do not step on the brake pedal, the lights do not come on.
Any guesses?

Re: Anti lock light anomoly
You have a problem with the ABS braking system and it is probably failing the first part of self-test and/or initialization. Probably best to get it scanned with an ABS capable scanner for ABS/Chassis codes. See below.

Re: Anti lock light anomoly
Before you dump any money in it check the ground wire from the positive battery cable that leads to the fender wall.....I had all kinds of funky problems with my antilock light coming on and once I cleaned the ground wire problem was fixed....a 10 minute job...and easy too....

![]() Here is a pic from a '99 Regal LS which has the cable going to the ground stud at the right fender apron. The positive feed only goes to the PCM module, starter and engine compartment fuse box. My finger is pointing to the cable that terminates at the ground stud on the fender. As you can see it is connected to the negative side. The main part of the ground terminates at the engine/transaxle grounding stud. ![]()
