Weird virus / adware

Not sure what I've got, but AVG and Microtrend were unable to find it, as well as Adaware. As soon as my computer starts up, my primary internet program boots up and tries to load a page from a strange web address, something like 3.13.154.33 and the rest goes like 79311/5050/0/31/0/html1178727355.html. The website never loads up, 404 error. However, this isn't the only time my computer will try to load this website. It happens seemingly randomly, sometimes it will try to load it twice within a minute, sometimes it will be 3 hours before it tries to load it again. Anyone heard of anything like this before? I figured Adaware would nab it, but the latest definitions have been unable to.

Re: Weird virus / adware

Did you try running Spybot? I find that takes care of more stuff than Adaware. You could also try running the Trend Micro free online scanner to see if it picks anything up.

Re: Weird virus / adware

It sounds like a fairly common spyware infestation.

Try this program:
www.hitmanpro.nl

It's a program that automatically downloads, installs, updates and runs several different Spyware tools, and presents you with a nice HTML report of any nasties it finds at the end. It does require some configuration, so make sure you go through the options with a fine tooth comb before running it.

Thanks for the link Oz, took all bloody night to run those programs but they seemed to have got the bug. Cheers.
