I am new to BMW so hi my name is Chris. To get the point I am comtemplating buying the 2002 or the 2003 M3. I as wondering whether the 2003 is worth the 4 month wait or should I just get a 2002 right know. Both would be fully loaded so I was wondering what you guys would recomend. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know there is no difference between the two model years. If you want to spec the car out yourself with something special then go for the 2003, but if they are both already built, then go for the 2002.

The only thing that might be different is in the SMG tranny. I think they may have upgraded the SMG for 2003, called the SMG II, but im not totally positive. Either way be prepared to spend big because if you want fully loaded...i remember my dads '02 M3 convertible (fully loaded) cost upwards of $71,000 about two months ago. also, the wait was a good 4-5 months but def. worth it!

I don't the SMG is really sucks. 2 of my friend got the 2002 SMG, both of them broke the SMG within a month. Thats why I got my 6-speed.

there will be a few differences between the 02 and 03
from what i hear, after march 03, therell be a minor facelift for the e46 coupes, and these changes will probably affect the m3s, also, therell be LED taillights instead of the incandescents besides that i dont really think therell be anything else and germancars guy, the SMG II is the current sequential manual available in the 02s, the first SMG made its appearance in the e36 generation of the m3
