Fuel Problem

I have a 94 lumina witha 3.1.

When I turn to key it wont start. If I mash the gas and turn the key it will start. I don't have the problem all the time.

Any Idea what this can be?

Re: Fuel Problem

I guess you mean it cranks but no start?

Holding the pedal to the floor puts it in "Clear Flood" mode, shuts the fuel injection off...

Sometimes if the EGR or IAC is stuck and allowing too much air through, you'll have to give it about half throttle to get it to start...

Otherwise it may just have the typical 3.1 "Duhhh, what?" failure to start from time to time...which most do, mine since it was new...I think it's CPS signal gets mixed up or something...

Ever try cycling the key off and on, then try again? That's what I do, starts right up each time. Otherwise it will just crank and crank, sometimes with a little huff through the intake at the end...

Re: Fuel Problem

Thank Jeff.

It was the Fuel Pressure Regulator. When I looked under the hood I checked my air box and there was gas in it. The regulator was pushing fuel through the vaccum lines.

Thanks again.

Re: Fuel Problem

That would do it. Good catch.
