Right turn signal not blinking - just solid

The bulbs are fine, the left blinker is fine and the 4-ways are fine.

The right signal is staying on solid. I did read that there are "turn signal flasher units" or unit, but not sure of the location.

thx.

in my 1997 service manual, it says that the turn flasher is located on the drivers side of the dash near the FUSE BLOCK.

From the flasher, it goes to the STALK, and from there to the lights.

thanks - I'll look for and replace the unit if nessesary. I also see that there is a 'multi-switch' which may be the culprit as well.

Now I need to find the location of that

Re: Right turn signal not blinking - just solid

I think the multi-switch is the STALK.

Not sure of the year of your Aurora, but there are some screws on the bottom cover of the column. If you take them out (I want to say 3 of them), then the cover will come off. There are just screws holding the stalk on. Unplug the wires at the base of the steering column (7mm screw in middle, seperate the 2 connectors, find the BLADE that has the turn signal stalk/headlights wiring, and seperate it.

you just pull out the wiring and put the new one in.

Re: Right turn signal not blinking - just solid

FIXED - thanks all, very easy and cheap - $13.96 CAN.

Blinkers sound different and blink a little faster - the guy at the parts store said the aluminum covered ones(stock) are garbage/cheap...

I've had other strange blinker issues over the years. Sometimes it would just start clicking on it's own until I touched the blinker arm. Anyway that's probably fixed now too.

groovy.

I keep the cheap ones in my car becuase I have had several of the other ones go out, so I just keep a slew of cheap ones around.

Glad it is fixed, and glad it was easy to do.

Why is it that it is the LITTLE things that annoy you, but the big things don't bother?

does this hold true for the 99 XJ as well?
I couldn't find the flasher location. I checked all the usual spots and wound up with a handfull of nothing.

Re: Right turn signal not blinking - just solid

not sure what was done when.

In my 1997 Service manual, it has the power door locks controlled by the BCM, but the 1995 that I pulled the dash out of did not have a BCM. It had a normal relay (same as the relay that was in my 1995 Cutlass Supreme).

My grandmothers 1999 Grand Am does not have a flasher at all. The hazard button controls the flashing.

I would say that if either of yours works, turn it on, and listen for the clicking. You never know what GM is going to do next.

Re: Right turn signal not blinking - just solid

so all you did to resolve your problem was change your flasher relay? even though the relay was working on the left side but not the right side? im just not getting something here, like why it would work on one side and not the other side? im just real curious because im having the same problem with my signal flasher staying on solid as well.
