How to change solenoid?

I have a 96 Windstar that apparently needs a new torque converter clutch solenoid. We have the part and have been told this can be done by simply removing the wheel and taking off the side pan. We were going to take it to a mechanic but it has also just developed an issue with the front passenger wheel (grinding I think) that is preventing us from driving it to where it needs to go.

Question is....my husband has decided to go ahead and tackle the wheel issue (as he is pretty handy with auto repairs) and we're wondering if there are simple steps to replacing this solenoid instead of taking it to a mechanic to have them do?
