Re: tranny fluid

Honda Manual Tranny fluid (honda/acura dealership), Gm Synchromesh, I LOVE this stuff (GM stealership), or any 10w-30 motor oil.

I'll vouch for honda mtf. If your tranny doenst grind you can't go wrong with it. If it does grind then do as frodo said and get some synchromesh.

Re: tranny fluid

I haven't used either one of those, I just stick with Castrol GTX, and I haven't had a problem out of it yet. I think its like 1 1/2 quarts....don't quote me on it because I don't remember exactly because its been a while since I filled it up, but if you buy 2 quarts, that will get it for you.

Re: tranny fluid

I always use non syntehtic 10-30. Honda MTF wasnt around when our cars were made so I see no point in using it.

2 quarts will be enough, just fill it until it starts to dribble out the fill hole.

Wow i respect how well you treat your car man. I wish i had the time to do tranny oil changes that frequently. Damn I remember my dads civic beater he used to have never had its tranny fluid changed once in over 250k he owned it.

Re: tranny fluid

Oil changes should happen that frequently, but the tranny doesn't need it that often. I still check mine every so often to see if its still good and tranny fluid last quite awhile. I think the tranny recommendation is like 6 months or something, don't quote me on that either...I just change it when it needs it, no sense in wasting oil when its still perfectly fine.

Re: tranny fluid

Manual trans fluid should be changed about every 10,000 miles.
