Well if your PCS is bad it can make the pump whine. Have you had the DTC P1811 set? What have they diagnosed it as? Does it come and go with gear changes? Also what’s the mileage on you car?

yeah it sounds like the PCS in the tranny. or i guess it could be a bad PCM computer too. i had a pcm reprogramed by zzp and after 200 miles tthe tranny would whine and shift hard. i then would stick the stock PCM back in and it would drive fine.

1998 grand prix se 3.8 159,000
yeah first they scaned it and got the code for (torque converter circuit stuck open) then it goes away. but they cant seem to actually pinpoint the problem. They want me to pay over 850 just for them to take it down and look at it. I am not going for that when i could get a used tranny installed for 900. But im pretty sure it only needs something minor because all the gears work but sometimes the tranny is sluggish. And the sound i get starts when i first start the car for about 5 min then it goes away then it returns whenever the tranny is about to change gear while excelerating. Could it be that the bearing in the torque converter blew?

well i went and got a used tranny with 40,000 miles and had it installed today it will be done tomorow i just couldnt take the hard shifting anymore and it would have cost over 900 just to take it down and change somethings with no guarantee so i spent 1,100 and got a new tranny with a waranty..thanks for all the help
