Is it the Starter

When I start my car it makes a loud clunk. Is it that the person who previously had the car put the wrong starter in? Or is something else the problem.

Re: Is it the Starter

You need to be more specific on your car....what year, make, model, engine and trans? If this is a Geo Metro 3 Cyl......To my knowledge, there are only 2 different Starters for these cars....One for a Automatic trans and 1 for a 5 Speed manual trans. Does the engine start?.....Be more specific in your explanation of your problem.

Re: Is it the Starter

I have a 1994 geo metro. 1.0L, 3 cylinder. I traded out the straters because they were wrong . The one previously in the car was for an automatic so I replaced it with one for a manual transmission. But it still ends up making a sound like you dropped a bowling ball on a concrete floor. The engine does start and everything else runs fine.
