Sat. Night

Well, i figured i would let u guys know about this weekend. Me and a friend of mine were just cruizen around looking for some fun , and sure enough as i pulled out of a gas station, a car in the far lane speeds by me at what i would say was about 60-70mph. So we have a chain of redlights as we leave the city and i would say if it was the last it was 1 of the last lights b4 we got out 2 the straight country, so we kinda fool around passing him and the slowly trying 2 bait him 2 floor it.....so the last light is up and i pass him far and stop at the green light. He pulls up and we wait for red, he rolls down his window and ask what i was running, i told him bone stock and asked him. He said he had an after market intake and that it was an 04 accord. light turns red, then green and we jump. I would say i was a full car ahead of him by the time we got out of the intersection....we go about 1/4 (what id guess) and i start to brake a good 5 or 6 cars ahead of him. He speeds up past me and i have slowed to about 50.....as i see him keep going, i reaccelerate and go from rolling at 50 to around 100 and i am quickly gaining on him, i pass him around 120-130 and run about another 1/4 until he has completely disappeared from my rear view.

Re: Sat. Night

Can a SVX even go 120mph?

I'd imagine with it's age, AWD killing it's power, low power output and automatic gear box it'd be hard pressed to do 100mph.

Hmm.. interestingly interesting.

Re: Sat. Night

Maybe, 120 isnt [i]that hard to believe. Hell my 94 saturn (RIP) with 230k and 124 hp would hit the 113 governor with no problem

Re: Sat. Night

dont neutra drop the car at any given time. it might be cool the first time around, but the second might not be. just a heads up.

o4 accord. musta been a 4 cylinder auto. glad you had fun.

and idk about 120 in the svx, but its believeable.

Re: Sat. Night

i think their theorectical top speed is like 150,, but considering that they're a high 15 or 16 second car in stock trim (with a sub-100mph trap speed) it seems like it would take 2 or 3 minutes to reach it

Re: Sat. Night

it'll take me about a min or so to hit 120. when i get bored and gas gets cheaper, i'll see what it tops out at.

Re: Sat. Night

120mph maybe dropped out the back of a C-130...

kidding, i agree... if it could do it, it'd probably take an agonising several minutes to get there. Like where you and your buddy are rocking back and forth in unison to help scoot it along going "c'mon! you can do it!"

Ah... as it's said, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow.

Re: Sat. Night

Woot more underestamations about the SVX. I have gotten 2 about 135mph in no more than 2min. The car maxes out at 160mph.

Re: Sat. Night

Bull.

Does the speedo go to 160mph?

I highly doubt 230hp and 224ft-lbs pushing through a power robbing automatic ontop of more power robbing fulltime AWD that it'd do 160mph.

A C5 Corvette with a 350hp LS1 can just barely do 170mph flat out over a large distance. A F-body with the same power plant will barely go 160mph. I had a LS1 Z28 Camaro, fastest I had it up to was 140mph, and it wasn't accelerating very fast at those speeds, was still climbing but I could tell it wasn't going to much higher.

You're trying to tell me that your car, a good 120hp down from a LS1 powered vehicle... I won't even mention the rest, but just on power alone... that top end wise it'll keep with?

C'monnn man.

Re: Sat. Night

I guess 120 isn't that hard to believe...
Good kill, either way... Glad you had fun...

I had my Focus go around 110ish max, untill I had to slow down because of traffic up ahead. That 110 run took me probably a little over a minute when the left lane was wide open on I95, and it seemed like the car could've went a little more than that 110ish...

Re: Sat. Night

Thnx man, idk i had it 120-130 ez. And it felt pretty good, wasnt shaking dramaticly or anything. (about a normal shake for 100+mph) but it actually felt like i could have gotten it higher but with space limited and my opponent clearly defeated, i let off.
