Re: Tuning??

Do you have an NA or a vr4? Then I'd ask what all you have done to it, or are planning to do to it. Because there are tons of options, but a $2,000 AEM EMS would be overkill for a bpu vr4...much like an SAFC II would be near worthless on a huge TD05 car with 720+cc injectors.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Tuning??

well i have a 97 vr4. right now its a y pipe and bov. but here are my plans kinda in order:
IPS downpipe
Random tech high flow cat (boo emissions)
ips cat back
dejon tools intake
660 injectors
255 fuel pump
tein ss coilover
stop tech brake kit
15g turbos

i know right now and the kinda near future im not ready for tuning yet but i just wanted to get some ideas. so i know what to look for when the time comes. ps recombendations (spelling) on the set up are welcomed too.

also the car is going to be a street car that will most likely go tot the strip like once a month. i might do some auto-x too.

the AEM EMS is very advanced, can be very difficult, and takes a lot of time to develop your own fuel maps. For the mods that you have, I would recommend either the Greddy E-manage or E-manage Ultimate. The E-manage would work fine for you application, but the ultimate has more features in which it would all come down to preference if you want to spend the extra money for the extra features.

My thoughts exactly. You could get away with using 550cc injectors with 15Gs, and wouldn't need timing control, so you could get away with a few other a/f controllers. But if you plan on going 660s, e-manage is the way to go IMO. It's what I plan to be using on a similar setup.

Rotary engines also like to catch on fire too

I run the e-manage, as do multiple highly upgraded TT's on 3SI, without any problems. Just like anything though, if you don't know how to use it, then it can lead to bad things.

well the main reason i was using 660s was cuz that what i was told to use for 15g. but if you say i should be good then. you think ill notice a big diefference between 550 and 660?

and thanks guys i wanted to keep as much greddy as i could so that makes that easy.

ps whats bpu mean? bolt on performance upgrades?

Re: Tuning??

Yes bpu is basic/bolt-on performance/power upgrades

Read this thread by Trevor on choosing injectors

Best quotation of the thread "Check your ego at the door and choose injectors that reflect your actual HP output then fine tune your fuel pressure to optimize them."

That is a fantastic quote! I very much agree. with a set up like your saying I dont think you would have to go with an emanage if you didnt want to. you could just do a AFC.. with some 550's.. Assuming you dont want to learn the more dificult stuff.. but emanage you can ajust a lot of things and learn a hell of a lot more about tunning

Re: Tuning??

I wasn't saying he shouldn't do e-manage, I was implying that 660ccs are pretty large for a 15G/13T/dr650 sized turbo unless you plan on using c16 and pushing them to their full potential often. On pump gas, they are overkill and you will DEFINITELY need timing control if you choose to go with them.

I personally am thinking of a 13T, 560cc, e-manage, pump gas + meth setup for myself.
