94 cavalier dies while in drive and reverse

I have a 1994 Chevy Cavalier, it will start up just fine and then i would try to drive it not even a mile and it would begin to die but here is the catch it will only die if you at low speeds or a complete stop and not accelerating. Ive been told to unplug the torque converter cause that was supposidly causeing the problem and i did that and it stopped for a while but it is continuing. ive changed the spark plugs and i cant think of what else it can be if anyone has any suggestions please help!

a possible cause (this just happened to me) is the material inside the cat converter breaks into peices and clogs up the exhaust. the engine will idle fine but if you try to drive it feels like the car just wont go and wants to die. also i would check the fuel system-- it never hurts to run a can of seafoam through the system

1 - Don't unplug the TCC Solenoid. That's dumb and will cost you fuel mileage. Besides, the fix only takes 30 minutes and MAYBE $40.

2 - If its the converter, you should already have one as its standard. Its that big old tube thingy at about the midway point on the exhaust system. Take a broom and poke it hard a few times, see if it rattles. If it rattles, you're having a bad day.

3 - My money says you should buy a IAC valve sensor (if its a 3.1, but you need to specify). Its that thing plugged in via electrical clip on top of the throttle body. Unplug it, see if it happens still. Do not leave it unplugged for an extended period. You'll really hate what happens if you do that. But, if the car doesn't die when you test it in your driveway by putting it in drive, there's your problem.

(P.S. - If it were the TCC you'd have the car dying (as if stuck in high gear if it were a manual) ONLY after it got to operating temperatures and ONLY if you're been driving at highway speeds for a bit AND THEN came to slow or stop.)
