Changed my coolant

ok my engine temp somtimes passes a little over the half mark..like an extra line.. but fan wont go on.. I got coolent changed about 2 weeks ago think it might resolve the problem... Today its pretty hot here and, I noticed if i let the car idle a bit the temp will again pass the half way mark. Now is this really dangerous ?? Im driving a 2002 z24, picture in siggy.. I also got my feul system all clean out at the same time.. and, now somtimes im getting a rough idle.. sputters up and down of about 80 RPM's... Can it be the gas filter, seeing that the garage cleaned my feul system but didnt really change the gas filter... Car goes fine..i just idles a little rough somtimes but, not most of the time.. anyone can give some tips here.

Bye

Re: Changed my coolent

fuel filter is also good thing to change. anything that would restore efficiency to your car will help make it idle better. hell maybe even shooting your TB with some carb cleaner could even help. Especially your IAC valve.

Smile 94 cavalier rs temperature issue!

I have a 1994 chevrolet cavalier rs (2.2 liter)4Cyl automatic. I drove about 200 miles the other day and my temperature gauge was worrying me,going over the middle line. I got a full reservoir of anti-freeze coolant and nothing is leaking which is usually a good thing. my cooling fan doesn't seem to kick on like it used to last summer. I know it works because i've played with it enough to know. I pulled the drain plug on my radiator and nothing would come out. I'm thinking that maybe i used too much stop leak last summer when i thought the radiator was leaking and turned out to be the water pump in which i did replace it. what can i do to unclog it? does anyone know? could i use a air pressure hose or something?

Re: Changed my coolant

Compressed air will likely unclog the cooling system, but unfortunately, unclog it in several places at once, like the heater core, water pump seal, radiator, and possibly the head gasket. The system is designed to operate at 14-16 PSIG, and any more pressure than that can blow the tanks off the ends of the radiator core, burst the heater core, and do all sorts of other damage. The only acceptable sealants are the clay tablets intended to seal gasket areas, and even those are a bit suspect.

"Stop Leak" products are made for one purpose - To sell to unsuspecting buyers. If they will close a leak the size of a nail, just imagine what they can do to the small passages in radiator tubes and such.

Your best solution would be to remove the radiator and tank it to clean it out. Then consider a complete cooling system flush to attempt to clean out everything else.
