Unhappy 2001 Windstar Power Window problem

I seem to be having trouble with my power window on the driver door. For about a year or two, it would go down and then not respond to the up command, and then it would work fine for weeks on end. This was an intermittent problem that I could not duplicate for the service techs. Then about two weeks ago, the window went down okay, but when I hit the up button, I could hear a single click with each press of the button, coming from under the dash. Later that day, after we left dinner, the window went up like there was never any problem. It did this again yesterday and is still down. It's not all the way down and I get the click whether I press the up or down switch. Upon further investigation, the click seems to be coming from the "Front Electronic Module". Someone please advise. I think I'm gonna lose my mind!!

That click you here is the relay built into the module. A simple pinpoint test on the motor would tell you if it's the switch or the motor going bad.

I think so too. Could you explain this pinpoint test? Or maybe I need to replace the FEM?

Remove the door panel and hook a test light to the motor. Run the switch and check for power.

Or just whack the motor a few times with a hammer
