before you die, you see the ring

OMG!

The Ring is the best Drama / Horror / Mystery / Thriller movie I have ever seen.

Better than The Exorcist; better than The Sixth Sense.

I'm still reeling. We saw the movie at 11 tonight. It's 3am here now and we have all the lights on. My muscles are tired from being so tense for so long. More than that, my mind is exhausted.

It's a great movie... but be prepared for a major mind-fuck.

Now I want to see the Japanese version...

It opened here today. It's a remake of the Japanese cult flick Ringu.

Gonna see it today! :ylsuper

Ya know what the best thing is? Some of the latest scary movies are PG-13!

The Others, The Sixth Sense, What Lies Beneath, and The Ring!

So the biblical scholars mis-translated the Hebrew word for "young woman" into the Greek word for "virgin," which was a pretty easy mistake to make, since there is only a subtle difference in the spelling. But back then it was the "virgin" that caught people's attention. It's not every day a virgin conceives and bears a son. So you keep that for a couple of hundred years, and the nexy thing you know, you have the Roman Catholic church.

Like Yogs' said. But I don't doubt your praise, Jay, as I know that you and I dig a lot of the same types of movies. I wanted to see it before, and now I REALLY want to see it!! Thanks for the recommendation

Anybody see Rules of Engagement yet? That's high on my list of movies to see as well.

Well, I'll tell you... I don't want my 14 year=old niece to see it...

Even now, the next day.... I'm still dazed...

When I say it's better than those other movies, of course, that's my own perception. Normally, I watch any Horror / Mystery / Thriller movies with a degree of detachment... but that was completely blown away by this movie in the first 15 minutes.

Suffice it to say, I got owned by the ring.

I saw the movie friday night and I am still freaked out when I think of some of the shit in that movie. There were things in there that have never been done before in horror flicks that absolutely fuck with your head. That scene at the end when the ex-husband gets killed was the most disturbing thing I have ever scene in a movie. I am definetly going to see this movie a few times. And if you haven't seen it yet you must go. NOW.
It is definetly better then the exorcist or rosemary's baby or the omen in 'Mind-fuck' ability.
I love to be scared and this movie fullfilled everything I have always wanted to see.
BTW, was it just me or did the actual tape remind anyone of something NIN would make.

Yeah, very much like the NIN Closer or Happiness in Slavery videos...

My wife didn't sleep all weekend.

On an internetional note... Naomi Watts is Australian, the main guy whose name I don't know if from NZ, Brian Cox (in a minor role) is British. I think it really helps the feel of the movie that none of the actors particularly stand out from any of thier other roles...

Another FYI, the Samara is played by the girl who was the vioce of Lilo in Disney's Lilo & Stitch. VERY different roles...

And now that it's out, the commercials are showing more... I'm glad I saw it so soon.
