Cruise Control

I have a 1999 taurus and for some reason the Cruise control is not working. By any chance does anyone know what I can do to easily fix it? The lights on the doors are not working either, could it be just a fuse? Everything else is working fine! Thanks

Re: Cruise Control

Which lights on the doors are not working, the interior lights that come on when a door is open, the lights in the lock and window switches, or the lights towards the back of the door that illuminate with the interior lights?

There could be numerous issues causing the cruise control to not work. It could be a bad cruise module, it could be a faulty brake switch, it could be a bad fuse, it could be a bad switch, the vehicle speed sensor may be faulty, the linkage may be bad, etc. Has the cruise ever worked for you since you owned the car? If not, maybe you are not hitting the buttons in the correct sequence (On - Set/Accel). You'll need to do some troubleshooting before anyone can answer the question as it is posted. If you'd like a wiring diagram for the cruise system, send me a private message with an e-mail address for you that can accept PDF attachments. I have the factory service manual for the 1998 model year which should be quite similar to your 1999 model.
