Several little problems

When my eq is on, the speakers whine with the motor... and when I click my eq on the subs thump... I hooked my subs through the eq... good or bad? should I have hooked it up through the cd player..?

problem #1 ... you're EQ is picking up noise from somewhere, or the RCA wires that go to it

problem #2 ... some processors have turn-on/off thump, some don't

problem #3 ... if the bass speakers are not connected thru the EQ, then the EQ will not be able to adjust them.

alright.. I think that my alternator and my eq are picking up the signals... so wat do i do about that..? its not really a hum... its like a real high pitch squeal..

the eq is mounted kinda under the dash... and the amp is mounted in the upright position on top of my box... why?

because if you mounted and the chassis of the amp made contact with the negative ground it would pick up the noise.

also make sure that your rca's and your power wire are not ran by each other... this can cause engine noise too.

If its a cheap brand eq it may not be filtered very well.

I was gonna do that too, but I couoldn't easily get the RCA wires thru the drivers kick pod .... and they were gonna be too short.
