Re: Exhaust

Save the money on the exhaust and swap in a manual tranny. Best mod for the ATX neon.

The stock exhaust flows well enough to handle the few bolt-ons you may do. Turbo is the only reason to upgrade your exhaust.

www.modernperformance.com has some great parts and specialize in neons.

Re: Exhaust

The eby ontake will look better than stock, but won't help you much at all. The Iceman intake is the only true CAI for the neon or you can build your own 3.0L intake.

I think first you need to decide how much money you want to spend and what are your goals, then I can help you from there.

The intake will help dramatically. Do you have a DOHC or SOHC engine?

its a sohc it needs a new power steering belt (it squeals when i turn sharp)and tranny fluid (the car trys 2 jump forward when i slow down only happens when im goin slow tho..) and it might need new tie rods.. im goin 2 have my neighbor look at it and if he cant figure it out i will take it 2 a dealership.. i will have all of these checked out/done soon. o and when you say dramatically in what aspect is it going 2 help my car? it should help mpg in the summer right? what about performance wise?

Re: Exhaust

The intake will help MPG and HP wise. Since you have a SOHC, get the better flowing DOHC muffler (swaps right on), then go with a UDP. www.modernperformance.com had a good build up for the SOHC and DOHC.

I was looking at UDP's and there is a mpx one for 110 and an unorthodox racing one for 212.. would the mpx work on mine since it is automatic? wat about the unorthodox one? also why is there such a big price difference?
and about the exhaust.. how much would you say a good one would cost at a junkyard or ebay?

Re: Exhaust

Yes the MPx one will work on either a SOHC, DOHC, auto or manual neon. As far as price difference, I really don't know. The MPx one works great though.

DOHC muffler from the junkyard...maybe around $10-$30.

Re: Exhaust

The only difference between the SOHC and DOHC exhaust system is the muffler. Thats all you would need is just the muffler. The MPx pulley installation isn't bad IF you get the correct crankshaft puller.
