T&C Spare Tire Winch Problem

Had a flat tire on the 2005 T&C, had problems lowering the winch, but after I got the tire off, didn't want to leave the cable dragging, wound it up for storage while I got the tire fixed. Now the cable lowers slightly, but not enough for me to re-hang the spare back underneath. I don't think I overtightened it. Any guidance on how to get the cable to lower??

Get underneath the van and pull down on the cable as you get someone to crank it down. It doesn't automatically lower as it needs weight on it to lower it. Good Luck. P.S. You may as well grease the cable while you have it down.

thanks, that was one of the first things I tried a while ago, didn't work. Took it to my trusty mechanic yesterday, he tried it with a cheater bar, couldn't get it to budge. Last idea will be to take it in as a warranty item and try to get the manuufacturer to replace the whole winch.

thanks for your idea.
