CD player installation

I have a new cd player I want to install and was wondering if the adapters they sell at walmart would work with my car which has the volume controls and stuff on the steering wheel. Is there a special adapter for that kind of thing? Also can anyone get me instructions on how to install a cd player. '97 pontiac grand prix

Re: CD player installation

The wiring kits sold at Walmart are fine, as well as the radio mount kits. The dash bezel surrounding the radio/heater controls/instrument panel is all one iece, and is retained by a series of spring clips. If you have fog lights, the fog light switch will have to be unplugged, as it comes out with the bezel. It helps to put the tilt steering wheel in it's lowest position. The steering wheel controls can be retained if the radio you're installing has an infrared remote by purchasing a steering wheel control interface (PAC SWI-2).
